The Merthyr Rising Festival 2018 continues to push the envelope in providing a unique and family friendly festival weekend with the announcement that camping has now been agreed with local officials at Cyfarthfa Park grounds.
This is the first time that camping has been officially granted at the castle grounds and the organisers are thrilled that such a wonderful location has been given the green light.The camping experience will include hot showers, toilets, on-site catering and 24 hour security with campers required bring their own tents.
Festival Director Lyn Williams told us, “This is a big step forward for the festival and the town. The festival is attracting audiences from around the UK and beyond and what better place to camp than Cyfarthfa Park. The place is a real heritage and tourist gem for the town and we’re delighted to work with Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust and the local authority who’ve been very supportive to make it all happen”.
The organisers are confident this will be a fantastic addition to a festival growing steadily and surely in a busy calendar of summer of festivals allowing people from all over the country to come to Merthyr Tydfil and not only enjoy the festival and the bands on offer but the beautiful surrounding park and rich heritage too.
For those not familiar with Cyfarthfa Park it’s just a 10 minute walk to the festival venue and is also home to the Cyfarthfa Castle Museum, woodland walks, children's park and splash play area. For more information about the park visit www.cyfarthfa.com
Individual camping tickets are available for just £35 for the whole weekend (Friday 25th May until Monday 28th May).
Camper vans can park for £40 per camper van for the whole weekend, and will have access to separate facilities. More info will be supplied soon.
